Shakespeare thief goes to trial

A book dealer is on trial in England for stealing a valueble first edition foilio of Shakepeare's plays. The book, which was stolen from Durham University, dates to 1623 and once belonged to Bishop of Durham John Cosi.

The book was stolen in 1998 and badly damaged in an attempt to hide its identity. It was recovered when the bookseller brought it to the Folger Shakespeare Library in Washington DC and asked them to authenticate it. Folder staff were suspicious of the book and contacted American and British authorities.
