Oberammergau Passion Play tradition in peril?

For 400 years, the people of Oberammergau have staged the Passion Play once a decade as a thanksgiving for being spared from the Black plague. Now, a new kind of plague is testing the faith of performers and audiences .

At the Ettal Benedictine monastery nearby, more than 100 students may have suffered sexual abuse. Yet most of the villagers, including Passion Play director Christian Stückl, seek reform rather than revenge: '“I can’t just change my faith like I’m changing a pair of underwear,” Mr. Stückl said.'
