Of shoes and chamber pots in medieval times

The Middle Ages met modern life recently when members of the Shire of Blackhawk visited Lincoln-Douglas Elementary School in Freeport, IL. Students learned about the nitty gritty of medieval life such as worn shoes and chamber pots. Hilary Matheson of the Journal-Standard has the story.

“If you are a high status person you have a chamber pot. A chamber pot is basically a bucket with a lid and you keep it under your bed,” said Patrick Bailey. The class resounded with an “ewww.”
