Human catapult stunt ends in injury

A day of adventure at the Dangerous Sports Club near Bridgewater in Somerset, England, turned into near-tragedy when Stella Young was launched from a medieval-style catapult made by her boyfriend.

The young woman bounced out of the safety net and hit the ground, fracturing her pelvis. She is recovering in the hospital. "For some peculiar reason, which we have yet to establish, she recoiled a couple of feet farther than anyone has before and flipped over the edge of the net to the ground," said co-inventor David Aitkenhead, who has also been fired from the machine.

An investigation is underway by health officers from the West Somerset District Council.

Indeed it is

Very sorry about that! We routinely check our internal search engine to make sure we don't double-run a story (although occasionally we deliberately do an update to an old story). This one didn't show up because it was from before we were online.

Again, sorry for the error.
