The discovery of an early medieval church and graves dating to the 5th-12th centuries, has temporarily stopped construction of a subway line in Sofia, Bulgaria.
The church remains include well-preserved murals from the 12th century.
Sofia proudly preserves many structures from Roman and medieval times. The city was known as Serdika by the Romans.
