New Exhibit on 13th-14th Century Illumination at the Getty

"The Glory of the Gothic Page" will be on display at the Getty Museum, in Los Angeles, California, through March 7, 2004.
From the Getty's description for the exhibit:
This exhibition celebrates the achievements of Gothic manuscript illumination in
northern Europe from around 1200 to 1350. Characteristic aspects include an extraordinary
sense of breadth and volume, the employment of the margins of the page as a field for figural
decoration, and an explosion in the variety of illustrated books being produced, ranging from
scholastic university treatises to entertaining romances.
