To all artisans of the Knowne World attending Gulf Wars XIX greetings from Countess Gwendolen Isabella Stewart of Meridies.
As Gulf Wars fast approaches, this is a reminder that the Meridies/Gleann Abhann Open A&S will be held on Friday of the War, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Bede Hall. All wishing to enter are welcome. Last year, there were 53 entrants in a wide variety of categories from seven kingdoms, and it is our wish to see even more this year.
The Open A&S is open to all entrants, regardless of skill level or kingdom affiliation. There is no particular separation of categories (other than for the SCA Life category, which will be sponsored by House Darkwood, held in front of the Hall from 10- 3), with prizes to be given for populace choice, and by the Laurels and Royals of both kingdoms. In addition, there may be individually sponsored prizes in particular categories.
Entries may have appeared at other A&S events in their own kingdoms and at this war, including the Championship battle. Both static and performing arts are welcome. Documentation is required.
Entrants may arrive and set up their entries and documentation between 8-9:30 a.m., judging ends at 3 p.m. and winners will be announced at that time. Entries should be picked up from Bede Hall no later than 4 p.m. No preregistration is required prior to 8 a.m. Friday.
Members of the populace are welcome to visit and cast their votes for the populace prize between 9:30 and 3.
For any further information, please contact myself or Dame Dredda. (Contact information can be found at the Gulf Wars website's A&S competition page. For inquiries on the SCA Life category, you can also find Duchess Lethrenn's contact information there.)
Please pass this missive on to any list relevant to the competition.
We look forward to seeing you at Gulf Wars,
