Gothic text found in Salisbury Cathedral

Experts working on restoration of the Henry Hyde monument in Salisbury Cathedral have discovered remnants of Gothic text beneath whitewash on the cathedral wall.

"There are several lines of a large textual inscription. Unfortunately it has subsequently been whitewashed over, making it difficult to read, but the good gothic lettering is clearly visible," said  conservator Tom Beattie. The writing is believed to have been completed during the Elizabethan Age.
