Study Says Medieval New World Map Is Real

AP: Scholars continue to debate the authenticity of a map said to have been made fifty years before Columbus set sail. The map, if authentic, could be one of the first to show the New World. The map currently belongs to Yale University, and if authentic, is valued at over US$20 million. Last summer, a study found traces of a titanium compound used in modern inks. The latest study, however, disputes that finding. Carbon dating and crystal analysis in the newer study suggest that the map may in fact be authentic.
