Submissions for the Louis L. Martz Essay Prize in Renaissance Studies are now
being taken. The winner will receive a $1,000 award and a chance to present at
an international conference.
A $1,000 award will be given for 5000-6500 word essays in Renaissance Studies
this fall, and the winner will be invited to present the paper in New Orleans
next spring. In a post on the Renaissance Society of America webpage, it was
announced that the Louis L. Martz Prize in Renaissance Studies will be awarded
for an essay in such Renaissance fields of study as art, architecture,
history,
literature, music, political theory, religion, science, women's studies or
more. The deadline for submissions is October 31, 2002. Papers must not have
been submitted for publication or presented at a previous academic conference.
The winner of the Prize will have his or her paper published in "Explorations
in Renaissance Culture," and will present at Exploring the Renaissance 2003:
An
International Conference" at Tulane University in New Orleans, March 6-8,
2003.
