Lost settlement of Argall Towne found

Alain Outlaw of Archaeological & Cultural Solutions, has been looking for Argall Towne since 1975. The elusive, short-lived settlement was started in 1617 near Jamestown, Virginia, by Capt. Samuel Argall, best known for kidnapping Pocahontas in 1613.

The village was short-lived, with most of its residents moving soon after to Martin’s Hundred near Carter’s Grove Plantation.

Excavations by students and volunteers have so far yielded "smoking pipes, Bartmann jug shards and fragments of a pikeman’s armor," as well as architectural features such as post molds, pits and ditches.
