Huge Anglo-Saxon gold hoard found

The BBC is reporting on a treasure find in England that rivals that of the Sutton Hoo burial, if not in quality then certainly in quantity.

Hundreds of wonderful objects totaling more than 5kg of gold and 2.5kg of silver were unearthed by a metal detector hobbyist in a farm field in Staffordshire which dwarfs the 1939 Sutton Hoo find of 1.5kg of Anglo-Saxon gold.

The items include warfare paraphernalia, including sword pommel caps and hilt plates inlaid with precious stones.
