Come one and all to the War of the Shires! Teufelberg and Canale will go to battle at Camp Herms in El Cerrito on August 21st thru 23 (Gate opens at noon on Friday and closes at 5 on Sunday)

Old School fighting, camping in the cool hills of El Cerrito and a Saturday night pot luck and revel under the stars all for the low cost of $5 for members, $8 non members and children free!

We will be running this as "The Faux Pas" and ribbons will be given at the door to everyone, man, woman and child (and probably your pets) to give out for ANY reason (Nice Armor? Give a Ribbon! Best Death? Give a Ribbon!). The Gallery is invited to hoot, cheer and generally make merry and give of their ribbons generously to the worthy (or unworthy!) Free lunch for any fighter who fights for Teufelberg! Combatant with the most ribbons will be awarded the Athletic Cup and the non-combatant with the most ribbons will be awarded the Athletic Supporter Cup!

War Scenarios:
Saturday:

  1. William Marshal (melee team tournament):
    1. This is a team event. Team sizes and format (round robin, double/single elimination) will be determined based on how many fighters are in attendance.

  2. Snow-ball tournament (optional if fighter in attendance are interested):
    1. This is a tournament that starts with one-on-one fights.
    2. The winner of a given fight is now the captain of a two-fighter team composed of himself/herself & the fighter he/she beat in the first round.
    3. Then the two-fighter teams square off against another two-fighter team. The captain of the team that wins then is the captain of a four-fighter team consisting of his/her original team and the two-fighter team they beat.
    4. This continues until the entire field of fighters is divided into two large teams. The captain of the winning team is the victor of the tournament.

Sunday: In the spirit of older traditions, the following fighting events will take place.

  1. Pandybat tournament:
    1. Simply put, this tournament is comprised of fighters using weapons/styles that are more dangerous to themselves, then to their opponent. (The most famous, or infamous, Pandybat was the pony-tail flail. The fighter killed himself on the salute).
    2. Recognition will be given for the following:
      1. The most "effective" Pandybat
      2. The most entertaining Pandybat (Could be the same as the above)
      3. The victor of the tournament. (Since this is not the primary purpose of this event, the recognition will not be as "flashy")

  2. Shastan Melee:
    1. Standard free-for-all melee with a twist.
    2. All combatants' weapons & defensive items are put in to a pile in the middle of the melee field.
    3. All the combatants circle the outside of the melee field with their backs to the center.
    4. The marshals will mix up the pile in the center.
    5. When lay-on is called the fighter rush to the center to pull out their weapons, shields, etc. and fight to the last combatant.
    6. Combatants may strip weapons, etc. from fallen combatants.

  3. Additional fighting:
    1. If fighters are looking for more fighting, then a variety of melees can be arranged (varied team, individual, mass-weapon only, etc.)

Note: Please bring any and all mass weapons, two-handed weapons, shields, and gauntlets you can lend to the cause.

In Service,
Ysabella Dolfin di Bellatrix, autocrat
