It is my very sad duty to report that the Canton of Greyfells, due to circumstances outlined below, will have to Cancel Baronial Muster for 2009. Please pass this on to any list you know that is not already in the TO: list. I have also sent this to the Baronial senechal of Septentria in the hopes that they might pass it to thier senechals, for I know many Septentrians oft come out to enjoy the weekend with us. I deeply appreciate you all taking the time to pass this forward so that no one might show up alone, and wondering where the event went.
The reason we are cancelling the event is that the site we were to use, was supposed to have been recently planted with new grass and we were to have a weekend amoungst lush new growth. Sadly due to the recent confulence of rainstorms, two major things happened:
Firstly the field that you must pass through to get to the site is quite flooded and is practically unpassable for cars, especially those laden with camping gear.
Secondly the fellow who owns the field was forced to postpone his seeding and as such the fields are a dry mat of dead grass that is both unpleaseant visually and it a severe fire hazard.
We had looked at alternative sites but none were able to be made ready on such short notice.
We are going to miss all of our friends this year. We hope everyone has a great time a Pennsic, Let the Trillium Flag wave Proudly.
Please rest assured that this decision was not taken lightly, a lot of questions were asked, many people were talked to and I gathered the opinions of everyone involved. However if you still have any questions or concerns I am happy to address them, please feel free to e-mail me privately at firstname.lastname@example.org.
I hope to see some of you at other Camping events this year, and never fear, next years Baronial Muster will totally Rock the GreatHall.
Yours In Service
Lady Moira ni Namara, Senechal of Greyfells.
