SCA: a good fit "if you like armor and tents"

A hot day at the regatta on the Snake River in Burley, Idaho brought out the usual cheering, beer drinking crowds. This year it even brought out guys in armor as members of the local SCA group presented a demo. Damon Hunzeker of the Times-News has the story. (photo)

"We're just here to let people know we exist," said Baron Edward (Edward Zaladonis) while removing his steel helmet. "We have people who fight, cook, dance, sing songs - anything that was done in the Middle Ages, we have somebody doing it -- Some people say, 'I don't know if I want to pretend I'm in the Middle Ages,' but they still join because it's a creative outlet, and everybody's looking for that."
