Medieval Astronomy from Melk Abbey on APOD

An medieval manuscript page from the notes for an astronomy lecture by Magister Wolfgang de Styria offers a glimpse at pre-Renaissance thinking in the astronomical field.

The page, which was discovered by accident at Melk Abbey in Austria, is known to be earlier than 1490 CE in origin and thus predates the influence of Renaissance thinkers such as Nicolaus Copernicus, Tycho de Brahe, Johannes Kepler, and Galileo.
