"Land of the Tusk" members grab notice of Arizona reporter

Members of the Barony of Tir Ysgithr, "Land of the Tusk," the Tucson, Arizona chapter of the Society for Creative Anachronism, recently captured the notice of Arizona Daily Star reporter Gerald M. Gay, who visited the group in a local park as members prepared for the Estrella War.

Tir Ysgithr's Baron Ivan Petrovich discusses his introduction to the SCA while in college in South Dakota. "I watched a guy walk out of his dorm room one day with a bag full or armor and a stick with a helmet on it," Kemp recalled. "I asked him where he was going and he said, 'To fight with a sword and shield.' I had been reading Tolkien since I was 10 so I was very interested." Kemp joined and soon found himself learning battle techniques and making fast friends.
