Bannockburn Evidence Discovered

scotsman.com: Archaeologists have discovered the first physical evidence from Scotland's Battle of Bannockburn. A pair of horse stirrups dating from the 14th century are thought to be the first physical evidence for the site of the Battle of Bannockburn near Stirling, Scotland. The stirrups were discovered with metal detectors earlier this year in an area which historians believe to be the site of the second day's battle. The muddy conditions at the time may have kept the stirrups from being picked up by scavengers and helped to preserve them for 700 years.
