Binding experience helpful

This is a workshop for students interested in historic structures and classic bookbinding techniques. Students will create a quarter-bound flax paper cover with wooden boards based on early binding techniques. The signatures will be sewn on double flax cords with simple endbands. Wood boards will be shaped and the cords laced and pegged on. The spine will be covered with a strong handmade paper. Emphasis will be placed on a well-sewn and consolidated text block and a strong structural design.
