Estrella War - Youth and Teen activities

Dame Anita de Challis, SCA Internal Publicity Deputy for Estrella War XXV, reports on the myriad of youth and teen activities available at this year's War.

YOUTH CENTER AND ACTIVITIES
Parents and Families, are you bringing children or youth to the war (anyone under 18)?   There are a wealth of activities designed for a variety of age-ranges. Information is available on the Estrella War website.

We need volunteers in the Toddler Area (ages 0-4; guardian supervision required), Children Area (ages 5-10; guardian supervision required for ages 5-7), Youth Classes, Teen Center, and Youth Challenge Program & Party.  Please contact Youth Center Coordinator prior to event Lady Ilora von Neunhoff (Laura Hopf) 520-891-4288 lhopf32@msn.com

DONATIONS NEEDED
The following items would be greatly appreciated: white non-toxic school glue, glitter glue, colorful fabric scraps (minimum of 1/4 yard or larger please), duct tape (1 - 2 large rolls), white or brown craft paper (to cover tables), Washable non-toxic markers.  Please contact Lady Ilora von Neunhoff (Laura Hopf) 520-891-4288  lhopf32@msn.com

YOUTH CLASSES
Offered at the Children / Youth Complex Thurs, Feb 12th to Sun, Feb 15th. http://www.estrellawar.org/Activities/ChildrensActivities.aspx

OPPORTUNITIES TO TEACH
Classes specifically for youth ages 5-10 and 11-17 are available.  The types of classes that have been taught  include, Marzipan sculptures, Candle making, Bardic classes, Kumihimo, Mosaic tiles, Storytelling, Miniature Trebuchets and Viking Bead Necklaces.

YOUTH CAN ALSO TEACH CLASSES TO THEIR PEERS
A fun and satisfying thing to do, and a great way to volunteer.  (Youth Teachers 9-12 of age, must have a guardian present during the class; All Youth taught classes must have a Youth Minister or adult volunteer in the area).  So be you a teacher with many classes under your belt or just starting out, please, please consider volunteering to teach a class for the Youth at Estrella War.   o Please send your name (modern and sca), class title, class description, duration of class, maximum number of students that can attend, age range for attendees, and your availability to Lady Ilora von Neunhoff (lhopf32 @msn.com) by December 31st (classes can still be added after this date but may not appear in the Gatebook).

YOUTH COMBAT VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED TO ASSIST WITH SETUP, PAPERWORK and MARSHALING YOUTH COMBAT
(all the work at Estrella is done by Volunteers!). If interested, please contact Lord Willem MacAmish, Atenveldt Youth Combat Marshal, at thedustycelt@ hotmail.com [OMIT SPACES].
