[ANT] Kingdom Arts & Sciences Championship

The Barony of Wastekeep welcomes you to the An Tir Kingdom Arts & Sciences Championship, where the next A&S Champion of the Kingdom will be chosen. Whether you are a rising talent or experienced old hand, competitor, judge, or onlooker, you will be part of the most challenging competition of the Kingdom.

Merchants will offer fine wares in the market during the day, with hearty fare provided at the kitchen. A Tavern Night will make the evening merry. All attending Tavern night are to bring finger foods: meats, cheeses, bread, fruits, & desserts.

Remember! If you are entering the Championship competition, your letter of intent, including your complete contact information and list of entries, must be delivered to Their Majesties and to the Kingdom Minister of Arts & Sciences by Kingdom Twelfth Night! Refer to the Entrants Handbook for specifics on the Competition!

Event opens 7:00 am on March 7, and closes 4:00 pm on March 8.

The site fee will be $12 for adults,$5 for children 10 and under. The non-member surcharge will be in effect. Make checks payable to "SCA Inc. -Barony of Wastekeep".

The site is the C. L. Booth Education Service Center, 1215 W Lewis St., Pasco WA 99301. There is a large Competition Room with windows along one wall. Adjacent to the Competition Room is a Multimedia Classroom, which will be an excellent Ithra room. Across a small hallway is the building’s Lunch Room. There are all sorts of vending machines, an ice machine, and a small kitchen area. There are plenty of tables for folks to sit around while eating and conversing. The Barony of Wastekeep is going to provide most of the food for the weekend for all attendees. There will be a small breakfast as many will be at the hotel. Lunches will be soups with bread, cheeses, and fruit and veggies. Dinner Saturday night will be a Tavern night with entertainment to be announced. We would request that everyone bring finger foods and the Barony will supply Sausages on Rolls.

We have made arrangements with a local hotel for rooms for attendees. The Clover Island Inn has Single Queen rooms and Double Queen rooms. There are a couple of ADA rooms in the hotel. All rooms will be $89.oo per night. The hotel offers a Gourmet Continental Breakfast included with your room. You must call the front desk and say you need a room at the Barony of Wastekeep price to make a reservation. The number is 1-866-586-0542. There are some other hotels in the area, but they are further away. Here is a list of some other local hotels. There are some restaurants nearby and at the hotel if you do not wish to partake of the food being provided.

Pasco is approximately 226 miles from Seattle, WA, 217 Miles from Portland, OR, and 136 miles from Spokane, WA. Directions to Clover Island Inn: From Seattle and points West: Take I 90 to Ellensberg, at Ellensberg take I 90 Exit 110 onto I 82 to the Tri-Cities area, take I 82 Exit 102 onto I 182, take I 182 Exit Hwy 240 E to Kennewick and take City Center lane to Columbia Drive. Stay on Columbia to second light at Washington and turn left on Clover Island Drive. You will see a little sign for Clover Island Inn. Follow the road around corner and hotel is down on the left.

From Portland and points South:
Take I 84 to the vicinity of Umatilla, OR. Take I 84 Exit 179 onto I 82 north to the Tri-Cities area. Take I 82 Exit ? to Hwy. 395 N. Follow until you reach intersection with Hwy 240 and follow lane to Kennewick, Columbia Drive. Stay on Columbia to second light at Washington and turn left on Clover Island Drive. You will see a little sign for Clover Island Inn. Follow the road around corner and hotel is down on the left. From Spokane, Walla Walla and points East: Take best route to Hwy. 395 S to the Tri-Cities. When crossing the Blue Bridge, be in the Right hand lane and follow signs carefully to Kennewick, Columbia Drive (there will be 2 exits in quick succession). Stay on Columbia to second light at Washington and turn left on Clover Island Drive. You will see a little sign for Clover Island Inn. Follow the road around corner and hotel is down on the left.

Directions to C.L. Booth Education Center:
From Seattle and points West: Take I 90 to Ellensberg, at Ellensberg take I 90 Exit 110 onto I 82 to the Tri-Cities area, take I 82 Exit 102 onto I 182, take I 182 Exit Hwy 240 E toward Pasco to a left lane exit on Lewis Street just after crossing the blue bridge. Follow Lewis to the site at 1215 W Lewis St. on the left. There is plenty of parking.

From Portland and points South:

From Spokane, Walla Walla and points East:
Take best route to Hwy. 395 S to the Tri-Cities. Take Court Street Exit. Turn left onto Court and go over the interstate down to 20th Ave. and turn right. Go to Lewis Street and turn left. Follow Lewis to the site at 1215 W Lewis St. on the left. There is plenty of parking.

Directions from Site to Hotel:
From parking lot turn left onto Lewis St. Go to light at 10th and turn right (less then a block). Follow 10th over the cable bridge and turn Right onto Columbia Drive. Go to light at Washington and turn right on Clover Island Drive. Follow to reach hotel.

Pasco is also a stop for Amtrak passenger trains (800) 872-7245. The Tri-City area is served by Greyhound busses (800) 231-2222.
