12th century Georgian monastery found on Cyprus

Twelve graves dating from between the 14th and 16th centuries are shedding new light on a Georgian monastery, established in the 12th century in the island of Cyprus.

The excavation have been co-sponsored "by the Georgian Ministry of Culture, Protection of Monuments and Sports and the Department of Antiquities in Cyprus."

“The structural design of the monastery and excavated material are of great importance for the study of Georgian-Cypriot relationships in the Middle Ages,” said an announcement from the Antiquities Department
