Among the artifacts discovered so far are "32 wooden ships, Stone Age skeletons, coins, amphorae and even a basket full of ancient cherries." These items, along with anchors, ropes and other nautical gear, have excited researchers who consider the find to be "extremely important and special for Istanbul’s history."

An amazing assortment of artifacts have been found beneath the waters on the Marmaris Sea near Istanbul with the discovery of what is thought to be the "first Byzantine port of the ancient city of Constantinople." The treasures are giving archaeologists a glimpse of life in 4th century Byzantium.
