Clues, both from artifacts and their placement, have led researchers to believe that the grave was that of an important man and may have belonged to a Druid. They found "The metal rods, possibly used for divining, are in a specific order and near the surgical equipment - scalpel, surgical saw, hooks and forceps."

The grave of a 1st century Druid, possibly the first such discovery in England, has been found in Stanway, near Colchester in eastern England. The body in the grave was one of a number of important people buried near the time of the Roman invasion.
