Need to Practice Your Latin? Try Dr. Seuss!

AP: "Virent Ova! Viret Perna!!" is the title given to the Latin version of "Green Eggs and Ham", the latest of three Dr. Seuss books translated by professors at the University of Kentucky (USA). The children's books by Theodor Seuss Geisel, known to millions by his pseudonym, "Dr. Seuss", are among the best-loved classics of all time. Now a team of translators at the University of Kentucky have translated three of the books (How the Grinch Stole Christmas, The Cat in the Hat, and now Green Eggs and Ham) into Latin.

Bolchazy-Carducci Publishers Inc. of Wauconda, Illinois (USA), is publishing the three volumes. According to the publisher, the translation seeks to capture the rhythm and rhyme of Dr. Seuss' verse, more than its literal meaning.
