The Incipient Canton of RavenHyrst presents... RAVEN'S FAIRE, a one-day medieval faire at the Douglas County Fairgrounds - Kirk Hall, 500 Fairgrounds Dr., Castle Rock, CO 80104 Saturday, October 4, 2008, 11 am - 5 pm
Bring the entire family to this one-day medieval faire with activities and fun for all ages!
Compete in a game of skill and chance known as "The Barter Game." There will also be a special added component to the Barter Game - a special scavenger hunt for the children!
What is the barter game? Each person will receive a cloth bag at troll. Inside each bag are 'trinkets' which you can 'barter' with others at the event. Collect the neatest assortment of trinkets, the most of one item, or special trinkets and win special prizes.
The scavenger hunt for the children will be fun and easy and all children win!
Delight in making your own medieval toys and crafts.
- Make a mini wooden catapult (all pieces are pre-cut, you assemble onsite, and can purchase weapons to load in the catapult for a nominal extra fee)
- Make a really cool leather medieval coin purse!
- Make illuminated greeting cards!
- Make a spiffified medieval hat!
- Get mendi'd - with real henna!
Children and adults will have games to play, including the ever- popular 'botyl jousting!"
There will be classes, including glass bead making by Lady Fiona.
Enjoy medieval faire food! such as:
- Meat soup & Vegetarian soup
- Sausage on a stick
- Fruit and Cheese Skewers
- Pasties (fruit or meat)
- Popcorn balls
- Italian Ices
Bid on the opportunity to "Pie-a-Peer" of the Realm - including several well-known knights, laurels and pelicans to benefit the Incipient Canton.

Admission to the Faire is a nominal $5 per person, children 5 and under free, $20 family cap, $3 non-member surcharge applies. Checks should be made payable to SCA-Carthe with Ravenhyrst in the memo field.
***Make-and-take toys and crafts, and specialty booths are a separate fee (ranging from $1.50 to $4) At the troll booth, you will be able to purchase tokens for the make-and-take booths and food booths.
Food will be served Faire-style, and you purchase what you desire to eat. Bread with butter and Lemonade will be available to all at no cost. Faire foods range will range from $1 - $3/ea.
Total cost per family will depend on activities and food purchased, but should be reasonable enough for all to attend.
Centrally located between Denver and Colorado Springs, one mile east of I-25, exit 181, Castle Rock, Colorado
Site Restrictions: No pets allowed, no open flames (candles) in hall, no glass in parking lot. Site is dry.
