Countess Rhiannon of the Isle
For those unfamiliar with Ft. Gaines , it is an awesome site that, with the assistance of those folks joining us for the event, we very effectively ‘transform' to a more ancient setting. The site does not offer a lot of amenities, but it does offer a lot of ambience. It was a working military fortress, and, as such, is not the safest place on earth, especially for children. We have to insist that those opting to bring their children observe Kingdom Law as pertains to children at events and see to it that your children are supervised at ALL times.
To insure that we have plenty of time to celebrate, we have extended the event to 3 days! This should allow plenty of time for folks to take advantage of the activities we have planned, AND for folks to actually have an opportunity to visit with friends they don't get to see too often. We are planning something for everyone! Fighting, arts and sciences, more fighting, eating, reveling, did I mention more fighting? There will be fighting Friday AND Saturday. For more specifics as regards times and scenarios – please stay tuned.
We are encouraging any artisans interested in attending the event to contact us. We are planning an artisans ‘village' and offering special incentives for those willing to be part of this. Please contact Lord Máel Colium, one of the co-autocrats, or Lady Brighid, our Arts & Sciences Officer.
For those individuals staying on site, we will be providing a simple, yet tasty breakfast Friday – Sunday. No feast is planned for the event, but numerous groups within the Barony will be offering a variety of meals for a small fee – please contact the food coordinators listed below for more information.
Camp in the fortress, set up your period pavilion, or stay outside the walls for non-period pavilions and overflow. For those preferring more ‘creature' comforts, there are plenty of hotel or beach house rentals.
Get your reservations in early as space is limited!
For those traveling, we will have a baronial buffet on Thursday and Friday evenings.
