A resident of Edinburgh Zoo, Nils Olav was made an honorary member of the King's Guard in 1972, and is the recipient of medals for good conduct and long service. In truth, Nils is the third of a line of penguins to be honored by the Norwegian Crown. Recently, the 3-foot-tall penguin became Sir Nils Olav by the hand of the King.

Nils Olav, a king penguin residing at the Edinburgh Zoo in Scotland, was knighted by the King of Norway for his long service to the military.
