Greetings unto the noble populace of Aethelmearc! Due to last minute changes, the site for Serf and Turf has been moved.
The event will still be in the same general area, but the directions will be different after you get off the exit from the Highway. There will be SCA signs to show the way.
DIRECTIONS: From the East: Take your best route to I-86/17 and go to the Hinsdale exit. Turn left on Rt. 16. Turn Right at Crosby's Dairy onto Fay Hollow Rd. **** Take the first Left onto Pennsylvania Rd. The Farm is the first place on the left.
From the West: Take your best route to I-86/17 and go to 2nd Olean exit. Turn left on Rt 16. Turn Left at Crosby's Dairy onto Fay Hollow Rd. Follow from **** above.
From the South (Pennsylvania): Take you best route to Rt. 16. Turn Left at Crosby's Dairy onto Fay Hollow Rd. Follow from **** above.
From the North (Buffalo): Take your best route to Rt. 16. Turn Right at Crosby's Dairy onto Fay Hollow Rd. Follow from **** above.
Ok, that being said, the new site is a private farm. The owners have stated that all attendees must sign a waiver, whether they have a blue card or not. This is a primitive site with 2 streams on the property.
Feast is still being planned for the event. There will be no lunch served. UPDATED Site announcement: The Shire of Hartstone invites one and all to Serf and Turf IV, to be held October 19-20, 2002 at 3454 Pennsylvania Rd, Olean NY. There will be activities and competitions in Heavy (including an Iron Rose tournament) and Thrown Weapons (including AEethelmearc's Kingdom Thrown Weapon Championship tourney), Archery, Fencing, and Youth Fighting, as well as an A&S and Bardic competition. We are planning to have children's activities through out the day, a herald's point and scribe's corner, Bardic activities, and maybe a few surprises. This event is a royal progress.
The site opens at 9:00 am Saturday, October 19th and closes Sunday 20th at noon. Anyone staying after noon on Sunday volunteers to help clean up! The site is wet and there is camping space available free of charge. The site does have a 2 streams, so please be aware of this if you have children attending the event.
Merchants are welcome and encouraged at no extra cost. You will need to provide your own tables and shelter. If you wish to merchant, please contact the autocrat(s) so that sufficient space can be set-aside for you.
There will be many wonderful items to be purchased at the Silent Auction. Come and browse through out the day! (If you have an item you would like to donate to the Silent Auction, please contact the event's autocrats). Proceeds of the Silent Auction will benefit the Kingdom and the Shire of Hartstone.
Court will be held before feast. Please direct any dietary concerns and questions to the autocrats. Feast will be served at 6pm! To guarantee onboard, reservations (with payment) for feast must be received by October 9, 2002. Checks should be made payable to "SCA, Inc - Shire of Hartstone"
Site Fees: Onboard - Adult $13.00 Children 5-12 yr $7.00, under 5 free. Off/Outboard - Adult $6.00, Children 5-12 yr $3.00, under 5 free. There is a family cap of $45.00.
