[AET] AEthelmearc Spring AEcademy

description:
On June 20-22, AEthelmearc Spring Academy will be held at the Madison County Fairgrounds, Fairgrounds Road (no street number), Brookfield, NY 13314, in the Shire of Coppertree. This site is approximately 25 miles due south of Utica, NY.

Come one and all and expand your knowledge and skills at this June's AEthelmearc Academy. We are planning a variety of classes ranging from bardic skills, sewing arts, fighting skills to many other assorted arts. The Autocrats are Duchess Rowan de la Garnison and Sigurdr sigurdrisolfsson@gmail.com.

Artisans, bring your messiest crafts, for we can accommodate them on our spacious grounds. Didst want to dye? To cook outdoors? To work on metal, on a forge? To try your siege craft? To brew, to run your hounds on scent trails, or to work on equestrian skills? (Stables are available for an additional fee of $20 for the weekend; must provide proof of negative Coggins test and pre-register. There is an enclosed paddock for turning out your horses.)

To sign up to teach classes, please visit the aecademy website at: http://www.aecademy.org/summer08/index.shtml

The site opens at 6 PM on Friday and closes at 12 noon on Sunday. Flat, grassy, convenient camping space is available, with flush toilets and warm showers. The site is pet friendly. There are large buildings with electric outlets and tables and chairs for indoor activities. There is an outdoor stage with a roofed pavilion for protection from sun or rain. We also have a grandstand and infield for combat on a large or small scale. The site is handicap accessible. It is discreetly damp; please take your empties with you.

The Shire will be providing an all-day side board from the skilled hands of THL Edana Aldys Haukyns. Contact the autocrat with any allergies or dietary restrictions that you may have.

Fees for camping are $25 per person. The day fee for Saturday is $15. Fees are half price for 12 and under. There will be an additional $3 non-member surcharge. We need to have pre-registrations for the event so that we may plan on feeding you sufficiently. Send your reservations to Lady Elwyn Stone. Make checks payable to SCA-Shire of Coppertree.

Directions: From East and West, take I-90 to Exit 31 (Utica, NY). Follow signs to Route 8 south and then follow Route 8 south until you cross Route 20. Go approximately another 4 miles and watch for signs for a right turn to Brookfield and Fair Grounds. Turn right onto the Skaneateles Turnpike and follow it 3-4 miles to Brookfield; watch for a right turn onto Fairgrounds Road, which leads you directly to the site.

There is an alternate route directly from Route 20 that is flatter and easier for horse trailers. Contact the autocrat if you want these alternate directions. Location:
