Lute Society presents Summer Seminar 2008 in northeastern Ohio

The Lute Society of America will present "Summer Seminar 2008: The Journey Continues" from June 22-28 at Case Western Reserve University near Cleveland, Ohio. The seminar includes classes, concerts, lectures, and lute lessons.

Clases include "The Lute after Weiss", "Baroque Lute Master Class", "English Lute Music ca. 1610-1630", "Elizabethan and Jacobian Lute Music", "Lute Building Topics", "Medieval and Early Renaissance Lute Master Class", "Beginning Continuo", and many others. There will be concerts by Good Pennyworths, Paul O'Dette, the Venere Lute Quartet, Michae Craddoc, and others. Each student receives two half-hour lessons with a teacher of their choice from among the faculty (instructors assigned on a first-come, first-served basis by request date).

Those not attending the seminar itself can purchase concert tickets separately. Prices range from US$10 to $8 (for adults), with a progressive discount based on the number of concerts attended.

One registration fee of US$420 (with a $100 deposit) covers all the conference activities. Dormitory housing is available for US$410 for a single-occupancy room or $310/person for double occupancy, for the week. Air conditioned rooms are $100 extra. The dormitory housing includes breakfast and dinner each day, but not lunch.
