- Østgarðr Cheese Competition: Cheese and cheese farming is near and dear to the heart of all Ostgardri, and especially to His Excellency, the Viceroy. Therefore he invites all the cuisinarily inclined to bring their best cheese, cheese related dish or cheese themed food to the event. His Excellency, with the advice of Their Majesties, will select a victor from among the entries. The event site and this announcement will be updated as more information becomes available. You are urged to check the event site, http://www.avigne.org/sca/coronation , for more detailed information on nearly everything.
Site Restrictions: The site is damp (beer, wine, mead) but there is a bar on site. The site is not friendly to those with mobility issues. The Court Hall has a ramp, but the feast hall, merchants and restrooms all require navigating a flight of stairs.
The site is nearly at the intersection of state highways 133 and 117 in Mount Kisco, NY. Checking a map or your favorite online direction site is a good idea, since you have many options... However ...
Unless you are coming from New York City, your best bet is probably to take your best bet to I684.

Go to second stop sign and turn Left onto Barker Street. Follow this through two stop signs, turn left at next traffic light onto North Bedford Road/Route 117. Site will be next right - American Legion Way/ Brookside Avenue
From I684 northbound: take exit 4 for Route 172/S. Bedford Rd., westbound. Follow 172 to Route 117 north/E. Main St. and turn right. Follow 117 (becomes N. Bedford Rd.) past intersection with 133, site is on the left.
Take Best Route to I84
From West 84 , exit at Exit 20S onto I684 South. From East 84, exit at Exit 20. Take Left fork to Route 684 South. Follow 684 South bound to Route 172/South Bedford Road exit ( There is no number on exit in this direction) Turn Right at light onto Route 172/South Bedford Road. From New York City and similar departure points, either head to I684 as above, or take your best route to the Saw Mill Parkway - you are heading north of I287, so pick it up at whatever point best suits you. Take the Saw Mill Parkway north to exit 34, Rt-133/Mount Kisco. Merge onto S. Croton Ave, then turn right at the first traffic light onto Rt-133. Continue for half a mile or so, then turn left onto Route 117/N. Bedford Road. Site is immediately on your left.
Parking at the site itself is very limited. We are able to use the lot of the church across the street, but even so parking is a little tight. Once those lots are filled, overflow parking is near the site, at the shopping center; those are metered spots - 1/2 hour for twenty-five cents, quarters only, two hours on the meter at one time - until 6pm. Therefore, carpooling or mass transit is highly encouraged.
