[ATL] A Day in the Middle East

description:
The Barony of Dun Carraig invites you to return to another day in the Medieval Middle East. There will be the usual drumming, dancing and enough fabulous food & drink to keep all attendees happy throughout the day. We are also being graced by Her Majesty’s presence this year!

Where:
Mt. Zion United Methodist Church
27108 Mt. Zion Church Rd
Mechanicsville, MD. 20659

When: March 29th, 2008. Site opens at 10 AM and closes at 10 PM. We thank those who remain onsite after 10PM for their generous offer to help with clean-up.

Martial Activities: As with last year’s event, there will be no fighting activities planned for the day. This is a day to relax with your friends, learn a new dance and eat a great feast.

Arts & Sciences Activities: Artisans of all sorts are encouraged to show off their work at our A&S display.

A Non-alcoholic brewing contest is being sponsored by the Kingdom Brewer's guild.

The event will also feature various classes. Those who are interested in teaching a class, please let us know so that we can add you to the schedule. We’d love some more dance and drumming classes!

Cost: The site fee includes a generous day board for all of our guests. Because of this, we request that even those who plan only to day trip also pre-register to ensure adequate food and drink are purchased for all attendees.

As a reminder, if you are bringing a child who you are not the parent or legal guardian for, you must have signed and notarized Minor Medical Authorization Form for the child.

Feast: Attention, we have sold out of feast seats and a waiting list has been started! A sumptuous feast will be prepared by Mistress Minowara Kiritsubo. If you attended this event last year, you will be happy to know that she had been persuaded to once again present a wonderful variety of intricate and tasty Middle Eastern dishes. There will again be a Mezze (dayboard) of finger foods to keep the dancers going throughout the day. We wish to be accommodating to everyone's dietary needs, but we can't do that if we don't know about them. Please contact Cook@MidEast.DunCarraig.net with dietary concerns. Dining will be at low tables, so please bring pillows to make yourselves comfortable. If such seating arrangements present a problem for you, please contact the autocrat to arrange more traditional seating. We would much rather sacrifice ambiance than the comfort of our esteemed guests.

For those who are not on-board for feast, but wish to enjoy the dancing and other activities after feast, a list of some nearby restaurants can be found here so you can go eat and then come back for more fun.

Merchants: Merchants, there is NO merchant fee. All that is required is a paid pre-reservation and a note indicating that you'd like a table to sell your wares and the space requirements. It will be our pleasure to provide a table for your use. Please note that merchant tables will be reserved on a "first come/first served" basis.

Children’s Activities: We hope to have a full day of children's activities. Awaiting more details on the requirements for hosting them. There WILL be a teen “crash” area.

Hotel Accomodations: A list with some local hotels can be found here.
