Viking Warrior Discovered in Dublin
Submitted by Milica on Mon, 2003-08-25 19:58
Prolog: The remains of a Viking warrior have been discovered in a shallow grave in
downtown Dublin.
Archaeologists are very excited about a recent find. While excavating a
building site, workers discovered a skeleton bearing a dagger and an iron
shield. The skeleton, nicknamed Eric, is thought to be part of a raiding party
to central Dublin, known at the time as Dubh Linn or Black Pool. This is
only the second time such Viking remains have been discovered near Dublin and,
unlike an earlier find, this skeleton is well-preserved. "It is a fantastic find. It is very, very
exciting and very rare," according to archaeologist Linzi Simpson.
