John Stracke has announced the publication of the Isabella Font based on the
calligraphic hand of Isabella of Castille from around 1497.
A downloadable version of a new font is now available online. Designed to look
like a calligraphic hand, the font has been released under the GNU General
Public License (GPL) and has the Latin Extended Additional range. To download
the Isabella Font, visit the website.
GPL is the Open Source license used in Linux and many other Open Source
programs. It allows anyone to freely copy and distribute the work, so long as they
also openly release any improvements that they make to the product. Details
of the GPL can be found at http://www.gnu.org/ . In practical terms, GPL licensing
means that you can legally download the Isabella font, install it on as many computers
as you wish, and share it with your friends for free.
