Contestants, both male and female, were required to be 18 years of age or older and in good enough condition to take part in 8 day of rigorous training and combat during training. Participants were trained by a master instructor "while immersed in the historical Medieval period become skilled in:
- Horseback Riding
- Sword, Combat and Games training
- Archery
- Jousting
- Javelin
- Overall Fitness
- and the Chivalric Code of Duty and Honour"
