The Bishops have been identified as Walter (died 1235), Henry (d. 1293), Michael (d. 1359), Thomas (d. 1362), Gilbert (d. 1253) and John (d. 1209). Buried with the remains were "a gilded and enamelled crozier head that dates from about 1175, brocade threads from vestments, gilded sequins from a headdress and silver altar vessels."

Radiocarbon dating was used recently to help identify the remains of six bishops found buried in at Whithorn Priory in Galloway, Scotland. The skulls dated from between 1200-1360 CE. (photos)
