Residents of York, England have banded together with history buffs worldwide to save Clifford's Tower, a 12th century stone tower built on a motte constructed by William the Conqueror. Developers plan to build a large shopping complex that would surround the area which was also the site of extermination of the city's Jewish population in 1190. Expansion has already threatened other parts of the historic city leaving residents livid and at odds with their City Council.
