Let the revels begin. Their Excellencies, the Baron and Baroness of Atenveldt proudly invite you to ring in the holiday cheer with Them as They celebrate the Yule season on the night of December 15th, 2007 in the Germanic style to honor our beloved Baron Otto's heritage. So dress up in your finest German garb, tie on your bells and holly leaves and come join the revelry. In fact, there will be a prize given by Their Excellencies for Their choice of the best German party garb seen during the night.
There will be holiday festivities including caroling and dancing; as well as a sumptuous side bar finger feast served to you by Mistress Isabel. And there will be a fully stocked bar during the event provided by the site at which the populace will be able to purchase both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. (NOTE: Please do not bring any of your own liquids OF ANY KIND to the site. All drink will be provided though the sites own bar. Free water and tea will be available during the feast as well.) As a gift to the populace Their Excellencies have decided not to charge any site fees for this year's Yule revel, this includes feast fees. And, as if that were not enough, Their Excellencies are also giving one ticket to each reveler which will be good for one (1) non-alcoholic beverage redeemable at the site's bar free of charge.
There will also be a children's corner with yuletide activities for the kids.
Oh and one more thing… Due to some changes at Encanto Park, beginning some time next year the barony will need to start paying for the lights that illuminate the field during our Wednesday night fighter practices. So at this year's Yule Revel we will be bringing back the ancient Atenveldt custom of the "passing of the helm" as a fundraiser. And to get things going, Count Richard Ironsteed will be on hand to tell the story of the very first "passing of the helm". (Which only netted $12 back then). So please bring your cash and support your barony…
The Yule revel will be held at the Irish Cultural Center (1106 N. Central Avenue, Phoenix, AZ 85004). Site opens at 5pm and closes at 11pm. (Set-up begins at 4pm.) Directions: The site is on the east side of Margaret Hance Park, but is not approachable through the park itself except by on foot. Make your best way to Interstate 10. Exit at 3rd Avenue and turn North. Next, turn right (East) on Culver Street and follow it to Central Avenue. Turn right (South) on Central Avenue (watch for light-rail construction). You'll soon see the entrance to the Irish Cultural Center on your right-hand side.
So, let the revels begin and let's make some merriment together that will make this year's Yule revel one to remember always.
