Lampworking with the young in Northshield

At a recent Young Artists Conference at Southwest Minnesota State University, Garret Bitker (Gevehard in the SCA) taught middle school students the art of bead-making. Cindy Votruba of the Independent (Marshall, Minnesota) has the story.

From the story:

Bitker told the students to keep rotating the bead until they liked the shape.

“You can’t possibly make a bead ‘wrong,’” Bitker said. “It’s just ‘different.’”

“It’s like roasting a marshmallow,” Bitker said.
