Join us in the Fortress by the Sea! Come prepare for the upcoming War Season with the varied scenarios of fighting in the fort (SPEARS ALLOWED IN THE BRIDGE BATTLE). There will be both heavy and light fighting till you drop!

October 26-28, 2007 Fort Gaines, Dauphin Island, Alabama

Archery and other live weapon competitions will be held Saturday if the wind cooperates (Autocrats’ discretion). Youth class, Tourney, and Melee in the Fort! Saturday, Armor inspection is at 8am; fighting starts at 9am. We have several interesting classes on the schedule for the non-fighters.

Retire to your bedchamber within the hallowed halls of the fort or your trusty pavilion in the courtyard. But hurry! Crash space is limited to 100 and camping in the fort is limited to period pavilions (at the request of the fort).

NOTICE! Mundane tents are allowed outside the fort walls on the grass!!! Camping is also available at the Dauphin Island/Ft. Gaines Campground next to the fort (for info please contact the campground at (251) 861-2742). Remember that the fort is a historical site with no beds or lighting. If you wish more comfort, inquire about renting a beach house or hotel with the Reservationcrat.

To reserve crash space in the fort, you must pre-reserve BY MAIL, providing SCA and legal names, proof of membership, and a check or money order for the amount required made payable to SCA Inc/DBA Barony of the Osprey. No telephone reservations! No checks accepted at the door!

The site is discreetly wet; No original containers please. BRING YOUR FEAST GEAR!!! We will be serving a sumptuous open-air buffet feast limited to 150. We will also be serving a hot breakfast both Saturday and Sunday!

A Fundraiser Lunch and Traveler’s fair on Friday Night! ALL MERCHANTS MUST PRE-RESERVE! Merchants are to contact the Reservationcrat prior to sending in their pre-reservation to ensure we have room for you.

Last but not least there will be a fundraiser lunch on Saturday.

The site does not open to the SCA until 4pm Friday. Please do not arrive before then.

Directions: Take your best route to I-10 West out of Mobile. Take exit 17A heading south on Hwy. 193. After 7 miles turn left onto Laurendine Rd. Go 1 Mile, turn right, continuing on Hwy. 193 until you cross the bridge to Dauphin Island. Make a left at the water tower (3 way stop). The site is 2 miles on the right. The route will be marked with large signs.
