Medieval Historians Protest with 12th Century "WMD"

History News Network: 1300 medieval historians protested last week after being called "an intellectual adornment" by Education Secretary Charles Clark. To make their point, they used a 12th century "weapon of mass distruction:" a trebuchet. Turnips sailed over Leeds University July 15, 2003 when 1300 medieval historians protested Education Secretary Charles Clark's remark that medieval historians are "all right for ornamental purposes but there is no reason for the state to pay for them." The protest took place at the 10th International Medieval Congress. One of the "irrelevent" subjects discussed at the conference: "exaggerated claims of enemy strength by monarchs hell-bent on war."
