This meal is composed of dishes eaten by those in the Topkapi Palace in the late 15th and the 16th centuries. It is a bit simpler than a full festival meal (which could have 42 main dishes and 53 sweets), but more expansive than the daily meals of the sultan, his family, and palace personnel, which tended to be one soup, rice, bread, one meat dish, and a fruit or vegetable.
