Website Offers Tutorial on Medieval Geomancy

Geomancy, a medieval Islamic form of divination, pops up in literature such as the Knight's Tale and Troilus and Criseyde. A website by Elizabeth Bennett of Princeton offers tips and a program on how to understand the process. Unlike some popular forms of divination known in the Middle Ages such as astrology and palm-reading, geomancy is little known in today's western culture. It is still practiced in the Arab world, however.

Elizabeth Bennett's website is designed to offer an introduction to geomancy through translated works, a bibliography and a computer program that generates a geomantic tableau (just for fun).
