Last weekend, the Marche of Alderford, a local group in the Middle Kingdom, hosted a fighter practice and ad hoc silent auction to help a cancer patient in a neighboring group pay for her medical expenses. SCAtoday.net's Editor, THL Milica of Varna, was there and has posted a photo album.

As of this writing, nearly 2000 homes have burned in a 72 hour period throughout Southern California. Though the first fire started in Malibu, part of the Barony of Lyondemere, Caid, the most destruction has occurred within San Diego County, the Barony of Calafia, Caid.

On August 1, 2007, the home of Blair and Yvonne Wettlaufer, known in the SCA as Baron Brand Thorwaldsson and Baroness Briana, was destroyed by fire. While their Excellencies, their children and the family dog escaped unharmed, the house was reduced to ashes.

The Barony of Stonemarche invites you to the XVIII annual Market Day at Birka. It will be held this year on January 26-27, 2007 at the Center of New Hampshire in Manchester, NH.
With last year's great success on Friday night, we will again open the Gates that evening from 7 – 10pm for check in. There will be shopping and a Pre-Revel then in addition to our usual Saturday schedule of events. Merchants, in the Exposition Center side, are offered the opportunity to open for business. From a report from the Owners, AJ & Andrew, it appears that the Inner Vagabond, a migratory middle-eastern styled coffee house, jewelry and household goods shop, was destroyed by fire on Mother's Day. There was no loss of life, only personal goods.
