Uric Blackoak Knighted, Luther von Ziemer Vigiled at Gulf Wars

At Gulf Wars, Their Majesties Padruig and Linnet of Gleann Abhann vigiled THL Ulric Blackoak (called Uric) at kingdom court on Friday night and knighted him upon the field on Saturday morning.

Members of the Barony of Dragonsspine were the subject of a recent article by Jennifer Wilson for the Colorado Springs Gazette. She writes, "The sound of swords crashing against heavy shields and the clatter of dueling rapiers echoed over the battlefield the night of March 8."

Armor and weapons stolen from Gulf Wars battlefield

HL Tymm Gard reports on an unfortunate incident at the recent Gulf Wars XVI: the theft of a great deal of armor and weapons from the battlefield. Tymm lists the items, together with some colorful curses for whoever stole them.

Viking Age journal online

Ceinan of House Kraken reports that the November 2000 edition of the archaeological journal Acta Archaeologica is available online. The issue is dedicated to articles on the Viking Age.

Scholar believes St. Patrick in Ireland earlier than 5th century

Celtic scholar and linguist Daniel Melia believes that St. patrick may have preached his message to the Irish 50 years earlier than previously believed. The earlier time period would place the saint within provincial Roman society rather than during tribal invasions.

Viking Ship Replica on Endangered List

A replica of the Gokstad Viking ship, built in Norway and sailed across the Atlantic to be exhibited in the 1896 Columbian Exposition in Chicago, has been listed as an Endangered Historic Site by a landmarks commission in Illinois.

Roman village discovered in Wiltshire

Silbury Hill in Wiltshire, England may contain more than a Neolithic mound. It may also be the site of a first century Roman village. "English Heritage geophysicist Dr Neil Linford said: 'We are really excited by this discovery because we had no idea that a Roman village of such a size lay this close to Silbury Hill.'"
