12th century Persian poem receives modern artistic treatment

The Conference of the Birds, an epic Persian poem written by Farid ud-Din Attar in the 1100s, is being published as an artistic version of a graphic novel. The poem was adapted by Czech illustrator Peter Sis.

Brazilian shipwreck may be Spanish colonial supply ship

In 2005, a team of divers with the Barra Sul Project discovered the remains of a ship off the coast of Santa Catarina in Brazil. Now they believe that vessel may have been a lost supply ship sent by Spain to build two forts on the Strait of Magellan.

Remembering Jaques Loius deFroi of Northshield

Lord Jaques Loius deFroi, modernly known as Nicholas Dickhut, was known as a chivalrous and skilled warrior in the Kingdom of Northshield. On April 30, he was killed in Afghanistan while serving with the 5-20 Infantry Regiment, attached to the 82nd Airborne Division of the U.S. Army.

Plastic wrap removed to reveal renovation of 13th Century castle

Roch Castle near Haverfordwest, Wales has had a UK£6m facelift  and conversion as a "corporate retreat". During the two-year renovation, the 13th century castle was "completely wrapped in plastic."

Ladies of leisure in the Renaissance

The Victoria and Albert Museum in London has posted an article on pasttimes of noble ladies during the Renaissance. The article, Renaissance women at leisure, includes short descriptions, with photos, of interests such as hunting, needlework and gaming.
