Oyez, oyez! As the sun nears its zenith, the people of the northern most isles gather to celebrate the endless day. We would be honoured to have you join us in the land of fire, ice and geothermal pools for a day of games, competitions and martial activity, all to be rounded off with a grand feast in the midnight sunlight.

The Barony of Gryphon’s Lair has the distinct honor and pleasure of hosting Their Majesties' Sean & Nisa Spring Crown Tournament to determine the heirs to the Gryphon Thrones. April 7, 2012

We will be holding an equestrian practice and possibly an IKEqC the day after Crown Tournament. The site is very easy to find. We will be using the indoor arena on the same site as Crown  Tournament.

William Wallace letter to be display at Scottish Parliament

Historians in Scotland have long hoped to reclaim a letter written by the French king giving safe conduct to William Wallace to speak with Pope Boniface VIII. Now the 700-year-old letter will be loaned to the National Records of Scotland for display at the Scottish Parliament.

In the 12th and 13th centuries, European military orders such as the Knights Templar and the Knights Hospitaller were powerful and rich. Did their contemporaries love them or hate them? Helen Nicholson of History Today does the research.

Will linguistic research pinpoint 9th century battlefield?

Keith Briggs, a visiting research fellow in linguistics at the University of the West of England, believes he has discovered Hægelisdun, the site of the 869 CE battle between the East Anglians and the Vikings which led to the death of St Edmund. His research involves the use of linguistics.
