Stirling Heads returned to castle ceiling

Copies of the famous Stirling Castle heads have been returned to their rightful place on the ceiling of the King's Inner Hall. A slideshow of the newly carved and painted heads is available on the BBC website. (photos)

SCA crafters invited to participate in Pennsic 40 Artisans Row

Renovation reveals Henry VIII mural

Most people renovating their homes find 1970's wallpaper, but a couple in Somerset, England, peeled back their old wallpaper and found an early painting of King Henry VIII.

Washington DC area to host early music concerts

On March 5 and 6, 2011, Collegium Cantorum will present Anonymous 24: a concert of medieval chant and (mostly) sacred polyphony. The concerts will take place in Bethesda, Maryland and Washington D.C.

Ren Fair pioneer, Ron Patterson, dead at 80

Lindisfarne Gospels online for the first time

The British Library has announced that digitized copies of two "iconic treasures" from the Anglo Saxon era have been added to the library's Digitised Manuscripts site: the Lindisfarne Gospels and the Old English Hexateuch.

"Season of the Witch: a 14th-century road movie with 21st-century cuss words"

Season of the Witch, the new Nicolas Cage costume drama set in medieval Europe, tells the story of two crusaders and the witch girl they are hired to transport to her doom. Jeannette Catsoulis of the New York Times has a review.

Iago Cabrera di Cadiz elevated to Pelican in Ansteorra

Countess Margaret ny Connor reports that at Their morning Court at 12th Night, Their Majesties of the Kingdom of Ansteorra offered Baron Master Iago Cabrera di Cadiz admittance to the Order of the Pelican.

Pitt's Medieval Interest Club partners with Carnegie Mellon groups and SCA

Like most interest groups, the University of Pittsburgh's Medieval Interest Group has had its ups and downs. Recently the group has had a drop in attendance, resulting in its partnershoip with members of the SCA and interested students from Carnegie Mellon.
