Somewhere is Scotland exists one man who carries Santa's DNA, the NM46 marker traced to eastern Siberia and to Lapland, Santa Claus's legendary home. The unidentified man, so far the only one recorded in Scotland, may find himself visited by a relative on Christmas Eve.

Disturbed remains may not be fault of grave robbers

Archaeologists who have found graves from the early Middle Ages with remains disturbed have long believed that grave robbers were responsible, but new research may show that the destruction was done for other reasons than material gain.

Pictish power centered in Rhynie

Excavations near the site of Scotland's Rhynie Man, a six-foot boulder carved with the image of a Pict, have revealed a fortified early medieval settlement, possibly the seat of the mysterious Kings of Pictland.

"Wow is there a tower" in Alderney!

A team from the Guernsey Museums and the Alderney Society in England has identified a Roman fort concealed in a ruin called the Nunnery. The site is believed to be one of the "best-preserved Roman military structures in the world."

THL Raven Mayne, Kingdom Minister of Arts and Sciences for Atenveldt, reports on a poll being conducted to select the arts and sciences categories for Estrella War A&S Competition XXIX.

The Renaissance comes to Canberra

The National Gallery of Australia in Canberra will play host to the "first ever exhibition in Australia dedicated to Renaissance paintings." Artdaily.org has a review. Renaissance – 15th & 16th Century Italian Paintings from the Accademia Carrara, Bergamo will be open December 9, 2011 - April 9, 2012.

Good news for Pennsic 41: No more one-lane bridge

Throughout time immemorial, Pennsic-goers have contended with the traffic pileups at a one-lane bridge on Currie Road leading to the event site. That bridge is, finally, being replaced in the spring of 2012.
